Mark J. Semeraro is a member of the firm and has successfully litigated claims involving the following areas of law: commercial litigation, employment litigation (including L.A.D. and A.D.A), performance bond issues, civil rights litigation including §1983 and §1985, environmental/toxic tort litigation, mass tort/class action litigation and insurance and self-insurance litigation such as auto negligence, PIP law, commercial lines, professional negligence and Title 59. Mr. Semeraro’s experience in these areas include the representation of various insurance carriers, self-insured entities, joint insurance funds, municipalities, other public entities, public employees, and private clients.

Additionally, Mr. Semeraro has developed an area of practice focused on representing real estate agencies and the unique issues they deal with on a day-to-day basis. In this capacity, he represents agencies, brokers and agents in transactional, litigation and administrative matters such as commission disputes, employment liability claims such as discrimination and harassment and allegations of ethics violations.

Mr. Semeraro has achieved the highest rating of “AV” through the Martindale Hubbell peer review rating system (the nation’s pre-eminent attorney rating system) and is an A.M. Best’s recommended insurance defense attorney.

Upon graduating law school, Mr. Semeraro served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Sylvan G. Rothenberg, J.S.C. He is an active member of the Passaic County Bar Association and has served as Secretary to its Young Lawyers Division. He has also served as a Barrister for the Justice Clifford Inns of Court. Most recently, Mr. Semeraro has served as counsel to the law firm of Scarinci Hollenbeck where he successfully litigated a number of high profile litigation matters. Mr. Semeraro served as attorney for the Township of Wayne from 2001 through 2009 and special counsel for a number of other municipalities. Currently, Mr. Semeraro is lead defense counsel on the behalf of the Borough of Ringwood in a class action lawsuit consisting of over 650 plaintiffs involving allegations of personal injury caused by environmental contamination, and serves as special counsel for the Township of Wayne and labor counsel for the Borough of Ringwood.
